303 GALLERY / MARIANNE BOESKY GALLERY

New York | 2013

Located on 24th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenue, the 303 Gallery is a new construction project positioned underneath the Highline. The sites located under the Highline are some of the few remaining open spaces in Chelsea and this project is among the first ones to occupy this area. Stretched out over two floors, Ground floor and Cellar, the space offers room for exhibition areas, private viewing areas, office space and art storage. All of the permanently occupied areas, such as the office and gallery, are naturally lit through skylights, windows and a glass floor bringing daylight into the cellar. Even though the gallery has to accommodate the Highline’s columns and foundations, it offers approximately 8000 sf of usable space and a ceiling height of over 15 feet. The entry is designed allow for the passage of large art pieces while retaining the appearance of lightness.
