RICHARD TAITTINGER GALLERY

New York | 2015

Located on 154 Ludlow Street, the Richard Taittinger Gallery is a 5,445 sq.ft space that introduces the Chelsea gallery atmosphere to the upcoming artistic scene of the Lower East Side. The gallery is conceivably divided into three different types of exhibition spaces: a 22 ft high ceiling space at the front of the gallery, introduced to the visitor right after he passes the threshold, a smaller exhibition space that hosts the reception area in the middle of the gallery and a 13 ft high ceiling space that is illuminated with natural light from a skylight at the back of the gallery.

p Along with the ground floor exhibition spaces, the gallery hosts a private viewing room as well as inventory space in the cellar, and office space for the owner, director and staff in the mezzanine. The clear glass storefront creates a visual connection and accessibility from the street - fostering a constant dialogue between the inside and outside. Functioning as a vitrine, this design allows the gallery to showcase their art in the neighborhood even when the gallery is closed.
