TAROT BOX

GRAPHIC | 2012

This project is for the creation and exhibition of a contemporary art Tarot Card box that will be exhibited at The National Arts Club in New York, as well as result in an actual card deck container.  Unlike a typical card deck box, a rectangular cube that is a maximization of surfaces, the design for the exhibit card box is a series of faceted surfaces that create a textural box.  The design for the top and bottom surfaces of the box was formed from faceted planes dissected by diverging strata and points.  The resulting dissection of the base plane into faceted fragments created a surface that has become three-dimensional.  The interior of the box was designed with the constraints of ergonomics and program in mind.  For the user to easily extract the card deck from the box the bottom surface has been angled and the sides tilted inward so the cards rest angularly in the box.
